Whirling bluebird of Eger
Impression: Small but with strong body-muscles and vivid temper, having a whirling, fast flight.
Body build and posture: Short body slanting backwords with medium length legs.
Head: Lengthy and trapezoid. The forehead goes into the top the head and this into the nape with a slight edge. The sideslanting forehead is the continuation – without break – of the beak. The top of head is harizontal with a small deepening. The nape is steeply slanting but always smooth.
Eyes: The iris is pearly grey. The narrow eyerings are double-lined smooth and having a color of plumblue.
Pecker: Smaller then avarage, thicker at the start, slightly downwards slanted and hornblack coloured. The tip of the upper mandible blends a little over the lower one.
The swelling of the nose is short, heart-shaped, flat, peckled white.
Neck: Somewhat long, vertical, slim, lightly bendig.
Neck is round at the throat.
Chest: Bulding, lightly lifting and slightly stands ahead.
Back: Narrow, slanting backwards to the tail in a straight line.
Wings: Clinging to the body. The quill-feather leans onto the tail.
The wingends do not meet.
Tails: Short and narrow. The feathers come to a tight finish, as they are following the line of back without break. Has 12 steering feathers, the two outsiders are lined with light grey colour.
Legs: Medium length. The foot is without feathers. The nails end in similar colour as the pecker.
Colour, positioning and building of feathers: The tight body feathers are metallic blue. Head and neck are brilliant having black, green or lilac colour.
The wing-shield and the back feathers brownish grey, the tail is darkgrey, the wingstraps and tailstraps are mat black.
The belly, the sides and the inner part of the wings as well as the middle part are lighter grey colour. The males (cocks) are lighter while the layers (hen) are darker coloured.
The variations of the type:
The „gipsy” whirlingbird of Eger, - mat, dull black coloured The hoary bluebirds chest, pouch, belly and sides are hoar – white.
The „gipsy” hoary have brownish glittering black and greyish blue tail whit whitish hoary pouch, chest and belly.
Serious faults: extremly short legs, horizontal posture, short, thick neck, long tail, white middle.
Lighter faults: stronger body buid than needed, bloodvesseled iris.
